In two months, Courtney has found a great job. Where? In the Miami Athletic Department. How crazy is that? The job is perfect for her. She will be working closely with both the academic and CHAMPS/Life Skills areas, while also assisting the strength coaches from time to time. This is perfect because she thrives off of education (academics), she enjoys working with people and seeing them progress (CHAMPS/Life Skills) and she freakin' loves to work out (strength coaches). I couldn't have created a better job for her myself. Wild, but she seems to be really enjoying it.
In two months, my mom became another year younger ... or older. I can't remember which one she paid me to say. Regardless, Courtney, our children (the dogs) and I made our way to Winston. Sissy and her boy made the trip too. It was a family filled weekend, and it was a lot of fun. We even suckered sissy and her boy into making a trip to Ohio, which will be the first weekend in October. Nothing like finding some good watering holes to celebrate Oktoberfest, right?
In two months, I became addicted to Big Brother 8. Not quite the addiction my mom has for it, but I was into it. I'd never watched any of the previous seasons for more than one episode, so I felt a dirty getting so drawn in. It's over, and Evil Dick wins. I think it is great. It is like in wrestling when the heel champion just punishes everyone else. Perfect.
In two months, we have had a ton of visitors. Two of Courtney's girls came up, as did Brandon. Mookie made a trip and so did MK. Courtney's dad and his lovely finace paid us a visit too. Our house has been a hotel to some extent, and we've loved it. Granted, we'd like to have more furniture and more paint on the walls, but all in good time.
In two months, we bought new bedroom furniture. We'd been sleeping on a queen bed for some time, and it was ok. Nothing like our new king bed. Wow. It is totally awesome. Our furniture is beautiful and the bed is amazing. If we get some paint on the walls, it will be a great place to just relax.
In two months, our little nephew Chance is growing so much. The little guy had to battle a lot when he was born. So much so, his mammy thought he was "too serious" as a baby. Well, forget that. He is growing, his personality is shining, and the kid is so damn cute. Hopefully we'll get to see him soon.
In two months, I've learned that while Hamilton and Oxford are only 12 miles apart, running home every day for lunch is tiresome. Court and I split the duties, but one of us does come home every day to take care of the dogs. All the more reason for us to find a solution to our back yard issue. Our biggest problem is that the backyard is a hill, at about a 35 degree angle. Pretty steep and not really conducive to a fence, as the dogs would jump it with a running leap down the hill. We'll figure something out.
In two months, I've learned that it will be an interesting football season for Miami. We win our first game, should've won the second and get blown out in the third. We travel to Colorado this week (my first trip out there), so it will be interesting to see how we perform. The injury bug seems to enjoy feeding on us, but maybe we can shake it off. I've also rediscovered my deep rooted disdain for Spurrier. Yes, he knocked off my dogs a couple of weeks ago. No more discussion on it.
In two months, I've picked up a ton of new CDs. I've really gotten into Common, lately. It is rap, but very good stuff. Bought the new Kanye CD. Not as good as the last, but enjoyable. Rilo Kiley's CD is so much more pop than before. I could go on ...
In two months, I feel like I've gotten a much better handle on my new job. Although, I do realize I have so much to learn. All in good time.
That is it for now. Off to Denver and Boulder tomorrow. Hopefully the digicam will help me take some great photos.
