I've been fortunate to take in some great music the past two weeks. Edwin McCain was in town last Wednesday, and last evening I was able to take in my first Ben Folds show. Both are very talented, and I enjoyed the shows. Next week, at the same outdoor venue, I'll see Wilco. I've only listened to a few of their songs, but I've liked what I've heard. And anything the ephus suggests has to be golden, right?
Later this afternoon I will leave for Oxford, MS. Several of us from the department have taken it upon ourselves to have a KICK ASS time and rent a Winnebago. It will be QUITE the experience. I'm not sure if it will be like road rules or the real world or a combination of both, but it should be a blast. I'll fill you in upon my return.
For the third time since I've been here, I will be in a new office on Monday. Yes, I've moved again, but this time it is worth it. I finally have an office with some breathing space. If you don't know anything about operations and facilities, let me just tell you ... you have a lot of crap in your office. Not just papers and binders, but interesting things like blue prints, caulk for field turf, towels for first aid and various other random items. So needless to say, I've needed the space. I'll finish my move Sunday evening, so next time I write it will be from my new desk.
Things have been good at work, just very busy. We don't have another home football game until October 2, but I've been caught up in meetings about basketball, homecoming, and construction and SEC track and field. Yes, there is never a dull moment. I know sometimes I bitch, and I think everyone has a right to, but I've enjoyed my job more over the last few weeks. I suppose it is because I'm starting to see some results. Nothing is perfect yet, but it is progressing well. At times, I do get down or feel overwhelmed, but I don't think I'd have it any other way.
I am excited about going home next week. There are many Wake athletic events that week, so a bunch of my friends will be around. It'll be nice to see the family as well. I'm sure sometimes they get frustrated that I'm so far away, but I love and miss them dearly.
I'm off to Ole Miss in a Winnebago. I can't say anything else that would be much cooler.
