Damn, my friends rule

2/22/2004

Congratulations must certainly be given to the ephus. This guy has been through some serious bullshit, but will now be moving to Cincinnati for his new job with The Post. This is a great career move for him, as well as a step up in pay and surroundings. Fortunately, he has the sage Marc Lancaster to help him out with his new surroundings. And hey, what was that? THAAAAT'S right ... the madness is back. Congrats, ephus.

Well, baseball season is underway here in Nashville. The Dores were able to sweep a series this weekend vs. SIU. The weather may have teased us a bit, but there were definitely some spring-like feelings in the air. We also opened the lacrosse season. I have never worked a lacrosse event and have watched it on tv maybe 2 or 3 times. I'm still always learning new things.

Hit a few parties this past week. The anti valentine's party was quite enjoyable. I might just have to throw one of those pictures of me in leather pants on here. I made a brief appearance at a Mardi Gras party last night. It's just nice meeting new people and getting to know them. Everyone here has been really cool to hang out with. Sometimes I can be difficult to deal with, but it's nice to know everyone I've met is quality people.

Friday, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Benton, an old fraternity brother from UGA, and his girlfriend Michelle. We just shared some laughs over a few beers, and told some old stories of brothers past. Reliving those days in the mind certainly makes the heart miss it. Yeah, we were all young and dumb, but I wouldn't trade part of my life for anything. It was a huge growing experience for me, one that had a great deal to do with the person I am today. Yeah, send complaints to the Phi Psi national headquarters.

After our baseball game today, I stopped by Blockbuster and picked up "Lost in translation." It is all the rave with the kids these days. I did enjoy it. I thought Bill Murray was magnificent. Scarlett Johansson apparently has been in about 15 movies I have never seen but really caused me to develop a crush early in the movie. I somewhat related to the premise of the film, that of a person being lost in the world they have created. Occasionally a feeling of being lost hits me. I have no idea why. I have a great job, a wonderful family, amazing friends. Perhaps it is the sense of loneliness that sometimes takes over. Ah hell, I don't know. I just enjoy film and music that strikes emotions, and this movie can certainly do that.

In just over two weeks, I will head to Atlanta for the Men's SEC Basketball Championship. I'm looking forward to visiting the city, and hopefully I will be able to see several friends. I'm actually working the championship a bit for the SEC. I figure it can't hurt to meet the people to whom I send silly emails, such as "is there a rule about visiting team cheerleaders?" Yes, this is my life.

Somewhat of a busy week, with four baseball and two basketball games, as well as a lacrosse match. Some decisions will most likely be made this week determining if we are bringing in some outside events to our venues. If so, the month of April will be a bitch. But hey, everything is an experience.

Until we meet again, you might want to check this out. We're BACK, baby!
