Engagement party #2, Tha' Dash

8/24/2006

Mom always throws the best parties. Yes, Courtney and I have now partied down in Atlanta and Winston, and both were outstanding. The trip home was great for numerous reasons, but mainly because many of my friends were able to meet my lovely fiancée. The food and drinks never stopped all weekend, and I enjoyed seeing everyone. Hell, we had friends from New York, Virginia and Georgia all make the trip. So yeah, there is a little love out there for us. This is just another example of how lucky we are to be surrounded by such great friends and family.

Finally though, a weekend for me to relax and do nothing. This coming weekend is going to be kickass. I'll finally get to go out on the town again and sleep late. The whole summer just flew by, and I feel like Courtney and I haven't been around enough just to enjoy Nashville. We plan on doing so this weekend.

Now Geico has had some tremendous ads over the years. Hell, the Gecko has been a staple of TV land for years, putting him right up there with the "where's the beef?" lady, Spud McKenzie (thank you for the correction, Jen) and the Taco Bell dog. But now they've outdone themselves. If you haven't seen the ads where "real" Geico customers have their stories translated by "stars," you are missing out. I've probably seen it 50 times already, but every time I hear Burt Bacharach sing, "I got hit, in the reeeeeear," I freakin' die laughing. "I hope I never get hit in reeeear, again." I'm telling you, that shit is funny.

I haven't talked wrestling in a long time, mainly because the product is very stale and boring right now. Yes, I'm still watching, but I am just hoping it gets better. But it doesn't. Regardless, WWE has given Booker T the Smackdown championship, and I have to say that is one positive in wrestling. Booker is one of the few hold overs from the WCW days that was actually worth a damn. He's been toiling in WWE midcard status for a long time, really doing whatever they ask him to do. Now he finally has the strap, and I couldn't be happier for the guy.

Off to enjoy the weekend. Oh, just remember college football season kicks off next week. I've got my tradition ... what's yours?
