Living with the lady

Just when I thought life had changed, it continues to be more interesting.

It has been a week and a half since Courtney moved in, and I can honestly say we've had a blast. Yes, she has a ton of stuff. Yes, I have a ton of stuff. No, the place isn't totally organized yet. Despite that, we've had fun really making the place feel like ours and less like two stink, smelly boys. Mookie was a great, tremendous roommate, but there is something to be said for adding a woman's touch to your crib.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't totally given her carte blanche. There are certain things I've said are off limits, and they would be for anyone. For instance, my big screen. Don't move it or even think about trying to move it. It is attached to several other components, all of which are in their spot for a reason. Especially the PS2. Never move that. Also, don't mess with the cds and dvds. You can watch or listen to whatever you want, just make sure the cd ends up in the place where it came from. And yes, those cds are in a particular order ... by preference, and then each artist's cd is in chronological order. Got it? And I have a lot of sports memorabilia, most of which isn't worth much but all meaningful to me. When we have a bigger house, I'll put it all in one place, but for now let's just leave it where it is.

See, that's not so bad. I'm not a total ass. I did request if we get a new comforter it not be all flowery and girly, but other than that Courtney and I have been organizing the place. She's so cute too. I think she has felt like at times it bothers me we've totally reorganized the kitchen. I've told her several times, I really don't care. Hell, it is more organized than it ever was. I love that. And she is very particular about things ... anal, if you will. But I don't mind that. It is for the best this place receives a major overhaul. So with all of the organization going on, we really haven't had much time to do fun things. We've been working out a bit. I need that. Mainly because I realize we'll probably end up at some nice beach for our honey moon, and I want to feel good about my body while sitting out on the beach. Hell, once I get there I'll drink my ass off, but until then I need to watch my intake. Gotta cut down on this tire around my waist.

It looks like we'll have the weekend free to just chill and be a normal engaged couple. But we both are a little anxious to party, so don't be surprised if you see us at The Stage Saturday night.

We do have a couple of trips planned for the summer. Thanks to a buddy at Wake, I was asked to speak at a round-table during the NACDA conference. A bunch of athletic administrators, a bunch of beer and New Orleans? This could get very silly. The week following we are heading to Chicago for several days. The main reason is to attend a wedding of two friends of mine, but we are also going to sight-see and hit a Cub's game. And we'll even see the Brothers Newport, as they'll be hitting the bleacher seats with us. WOOO!

So yes, all of you who had bets on one week, you've now lost. We've been living together for over a week and I haven't run Courtney off yet. More importantly, we are having a blast being around each other every day. I know love and marriage and relationships aren't always easy, but I love how we interact. It really is a beautiful thing.
