My life, in paragraphs

5/25/2004

I feel like I don't work anymore. I've been on the road non-stop for over three weeks now. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it will be nice to rest at home for a few weeks..

In the meantime, enjoy my last three weeks:

  • I was able to really enjoy time with friends and family in NC two weeks ago. The most important aspect of the weekend was my sister's graduation from East Carolina University. I'm extermely proud of everything she accomplished in four years, including her acception into their graduate program for child and family development. My sister will be making a difference in the lives of many people. If that isn't something to be proud of, I have no idea what is.

  • My parents are great. They paid for everything, they babied us and they even took us out for drinks. Several times. Sure we argue from time to time, but I think when the four of us are together, we find ways to have an enjoyable time.

  • My cousin Alex made an appearance, and that jackass did something in one night that I've been trying to accomplish for the past four years - he hooked up with one of my sister's friends. Congrats man, clearly you are better than I.

  • Ward and Alison seem to be doing well in Greenville as well. They both were very good to me during our time in DeKalb. It's nice to see your friends happy and successful.

  • Katie, Allison, Newp ... thanks for taking care of my in Chapel Hill. I love having great friends and then having them spoil you. Scottie, I'm not sure how we didn't catch up with you, but I'm sorry.

  • Hell is still the coolest bar in Chapel Hill. If you ever have the chance, I highly encourage a visit. It isn't for everyone, but worth a walk down the stairs.

  • I was in Wisconsin two weeks ago for a collegiate event management confernece. It was actually one of the more worth while conferences in which I've attended. I met some great people and even got to ride a horse. Yes, there are some fun times at these conferences.

  • Oh yeah, the saloon was fun too, I suppose. I mean, if you enjoy drinking and hanging out with a bunch of cool people.

  • I also learned a valuable lesson while in Wisconsin. I can't wait for someone. I have to go on with my life.

  • Office neighbor, I'm sorry for mentioning you in the last enstallment. Thanks for not blowing up at me too much.

  • Oxford, MS, is a GREAT small southern town. Ole Miss is a GREAT athletic department. I could work there someday. I'd jump at the chance. I hope we can put on as good of an SEC Track championship as they did.

  • Oh yeah, I got a promotion. Well really it is just a formal title for the two positions I've been doing over the past few months. Director of Facilities and Game Events. It is a great opportunity. I'll kick ass, but next time you see me, ask my how I've improved my department. I need the challenge.

  • Our department went through another change last week. Actually, it was a wrap-up to the restructuring that began last fall. It will be interesting around here next year.

  • Monday Night Raw has turned into a much better show over the past couple of months. It's nice to see the writers coming up with interesting angles and the performers putting on great matches. I just hope HHH gets one more title run.

  • "Troy"? Eh, pretty bad. Some cool fighting sequences.

  • "Last Samurai"? Much better. It made me want to go pick up a sword and fight.

  • I finally bought a Jays hat. Yes, I called their store in SkyDome and ordered a hat ... ok, and a few t-shirts. I'd still like to ask Bud Selig if he could move the Jays to the AL Central or AL West. Yeah, probably won't happen.

  • I need to help Scott with the new house. The guy has been bustin' his ass to get that place ready, and I've been able to help very little. I'm fortunate he is an understanding jackass.

  • I had to reformat my entire computer last week. Damn you Bill Gates. So much for trying to cheat the system. So if any of you have ARGUS lyrics on word documents or my movie script that I started 3 years ago, please pass that along. Damnit. I was so bummed when I pressed the key to reformat. It's like losing a huge part of your life. So many pages of lyrics, so many thoughts, so many projects ... so many mp3s.

  • For someone unknown reason, my parents are sending me money this week so I can finally buy an ipod. Ok, there is a reason. Regardless, I'm very much anticipating the arrival of my new toy. You can never have too many of those.

  • My friend Marc has one of the coolest jobs in the world. He is the beat writer for the Cinncinati Reds, one of the oldest baseball teams in the country. Check out his blog.

  • I've got four very good friends getting married this summer. Flip and Katie. Bob and Caroline. The weddings aren't until August, but I need to start preparing for bachelor parites and things of that nature. I've been a horrible friend lately. Fellas, give me another week and things will start to fall into place.

  • In three weeks I head to Hilton Head with some of the old fraternity brothers. These are things you need to do every now and again. Spend time with people who've watched you grow.

  • I am a slave to pop music. It is sickening. Currently on the juke box? "Tipsy," by J-Kwon. I wish I could help my need to download all of these catchy pop songs, but I doubt that will ever happen. Thank you bearshare.

  • Lacrosse Final Four. Men's Tennis Elite Eight. Women's Tennis Final Four. Baseball qualifies for SEC Championship. Both golf teams in the NCAA Championships. That is a testimate to those coaches and those student-athletes. I'm damn proud to be associated with these people. Fight 'Dores!

  • Athens still has this magical appeal. You go there and never want to leave. The tennis championship was just as much fun as it always is. It was great to watch our team march into the final four.

  • Equally as great to be around a lot of good friends. Wake Forest, LSU, Vandy, UGA, NCAA ... we all represented in the classic city. It was great being able to bring all of my friends together.

  • And yes, it is their fault I stayed an extra day. Yeah, yeah … it was my birthday. But what better place to celebrate than in Athens, GA.

  • Meeting new people is such a kick. You never know what you are going to get, but I met quite a few interesting new folks while in Athens. I hope the friendships will grow. OK, ok, I'll shut 'er down. Thanks for reading.
