Court's been fortunate. There hasn't been a sign of morning sickness. Aside from her being a little more tired than usual, life has been fairly normal. Really it had been a bit nerve wracking until Wednesday, February 9, when we had a 12 week ultrasound. It was like I was expecting a doctor to check on things daily and tell us, "Yep, there's still a baby in there."
What was cool in January became amazing in February. You could see arms, legs, the spine, all very clearly. Due to a small decaf coffee Court had around lunch, the little person was moving all over the place. At one point little one turned and looked right at us. The heartbeat, much like in January, was strong sounding very much like a helicopter.
The updated look at the baby, all the motion and even the "yeah, what?" look little one gave us made everything seem real. There is still a long journey ahead as we hope for a healthy child, but we both can not help but be excited.
So now it seems our nights are littered with web browsing. We are checking out everything from bedding to clothing to furniture. It is a bit overwhelming. Not the idea of having a kid, but the idea of how much it costs to have a kid. Wow. Who knew? I'm sure it gets cheaper as they go ... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Not only are we thrilled, but we have the opportunity to share this experience with some of our great friends and family. Yes, our parents are super excited. My Mom and Dad don't have a grandchild yet, but come August they will have two. My sister and her husband are pregnant with their first and due 10 days before us. We have several great friends who are expecting around this same time as well. It should make for a very interesting fall and outstanding Christmas season.
There are many things I want to say and share with this child. I've been saying I would sit down and write a letter to him/her the past month. We actually should know the sex of the child in two weeks. Maybe I will wait until then and curb my letter depending on boy or girl. This is extremely exciting, and I can't wait to share more news with you.
