As I type this, I am pondering the future of jaylowe. Actually, I've been pondering that for a few months. I've owned this website since 2000. I've always been meaning to give it an overhaul, but it has basically stayed the same since day one. How boring! I utilize to post my resume but mainly for the Lowe Down. Admittedly, I've been slack on the "blog" the past year or so. Hell, this blog started before I even know there were such things as blogs. But it has been a part of me. I click through these archives and see the growth of a man since that faithful first post in January 2002. I've broken hearts, had mine broken, done some really stupid things, done some really great things, found my wife and celebrated many wonderful events in life with friends. All of this is on these pages.
Most friends who keep blogs these days do so utilizing free sites, like blogspot or something similar. I have pondered doing that mainly because of the lack of attention I've been giving jaylowe.com. I do pay for this thing, so each year I am placing money into keeping this afloat. Don't get me wrong, I do love it. I do think it is neat to have my own domain name. But is it worth it? Is it time to let it go?
I was contacted this afternoon by an insurance salesman out of Texas who happens to have the same name, Jay Lowe. He asked me about possibly purchasing it, so now I really have something to think about. Can I part with this? If I can, how much would it take for me to let jaylowe.com go to someone else? All questions to ponder.
One year of marriage is officially in the books. Despite yet another move, Courtney hasn't run away yet. We've been enjoying life in Athens, but I imagine it will become much more hectic as she begins her teaching job Tuesday and football season is just around the corner. I still love the fact we are down here. It makes those rough days seem so much easier.
With the weekend now here, Courtney is diligently preparing for work. I'm hammering away on the keyboard and considering playing a little ps3. It has been awhile. We are heading out to see The Dark Knight tomorrow afternoon and then to dinner with some friends. At some point this weekend, I will be breaking out and playing my new "bags" game for the first time. Also known as cornhole, I was first introduced to bags in the fine state of Illinois. Regardless of the apartment complex, tailgating spot or bar, you always saw bags games going on. It is so simple, yet such a fun game. I contend ANY bar game you can play with a beer in your hand is well worth the time, but bags is a great outdoor game. Don't be fooled ... this does take skill. Similar to horseshoes, but ... well, with bags. Doug helped me construct the boards in May and Courtney finished off the 8 bags this week. Needless to say, I'm anxious to start playing. I do still have to paint the boards ... I think I'll go with a Georgia theme. I'm hoping these things will get some use during the football season and when we are just board around the house. The key will be to see if we can play in the back yard without the dogs stealing the bags.
Ok, so off to feed our children ... I mean dogs. I want to thank my family and friends for allowing Courtney and I to crash on our week long trip to NC. It was great to be home, although it never seems like it is long enough.
